WEEK 6 REFLECTIONS

-------------------------------------------

Day 1 - Trusting God as Sovereign

“For Yours is the Kingdom”

“Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:7

“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” Psalm 145:13

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’” Matthew 28:18

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” Revelation 7:9a

“The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.’” Revelation 11:15

Heavenly Father, your kingdom has come in the lives of those who believe and trust the good news of Jesus Christ. One day, we will see your kingdom fully established on earth. Until then, may you rule and reign in my heart as I trust you as sovereign over my life.

  • In what areas or ways do I doubt or question your authority as Lord of my life?
  • Reveal any pride in my heart or misunderstanding in my thinking that limits the vastness and diversity of your kingdom.
  • What do you want me to think about or do differently so that I can experience your kingdom in a fuller way today?

Father, it all belongs to you. May I bow in humble adoration to you as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Ideas for additional study/activity: (Optional)

  • Read Acts 2:42-47. What would this look like in today’s culture?
  • Meet someone new or start a conversation with someone you don’t know well. Be present in the conversation.

Day 2 - Trusting God as Sovereign

“Yours is the Power”

“For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” Psalm 33:9

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” Philippians 3:20-21

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Heavenly Father, you are the Lord Almighty. There is power in your word. There is power in the name of Jesus Christ. You spoke creation into being and with a gentle whisper you heal, restore, and redeem every broken place within us. May I have ears to hear your word to me today.

  • What do you want me to better understand about you so that I can stand firm in faith?
  • In what ways do I doubt your ability to change or transform people, including myself?
  • Today, I trust the Spirit’s work in helping me…

Father, how wonderful are your deeds. May I speak freely of them so others may experience the power of your love for them.

Ideas for additional study/activity: (Optional)

  • Read 2 Peter 1. While God gives us everything we need, how does our participation and cooperation with him impact the way we experience his power in our lives?
  • Be aware of the ways you see and hear God at work in you and others today. When you notice something, immediately give him praise and thanks.

-------------------------------------------

Day 3 - Trusting God as Sovereign

“Yours is the Glory”

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1

“Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.” Psalm 104:1

“All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” Psalm 86:9

“But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”

1 Peter 4:13

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

Heavenly Father, you are glorious. Your righteousness shines like the noon day sun. Your goodness brings joy to the saddest of hearts. Your majesty and splendor are beyond comprehension. May I always be in awe of who you are and all you’ve done.

  • How do you want to reveal your glory to me today?
  • What does it look like for me to bring glory to your name with the people in all the different places I spend my time?
  • I praise you today for…

Father, one day your glory will be fully seen. Until then, may each glimpse you reveal give me hope and strength as I trust you.

Ideas for additional study/activity: (Optional)

  • Read Romans 8:18-30. In what ways might our understanding of and response to our current trails and challenges reveal God’s glory to those around us?
  • When honestly talking about challenges you are facing, also acknowledge the impact your faith in Christ has in giving you hope through those same circumstances.

Day 4 - Trusting God as Sovereign

“For Ever and Ever. Amen.”

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” Revelation 1:3

“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” Revelations 1:18

“He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” Daniel 7:14

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:17

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:20

Heavenly Father, you are the one true, living God. Your kingdom and love know no end. From everlasting to everlasting, you have cared for your people. You saved us, rescued us before we even understood we were in danger. May I pay attention to your warnings and embrace your instruction today.

  • How do you want me to view and live out my days in light of eternity?
  • Reveal any regret or fear I may carry so I can bring it to you.
  • What promise in Jesus Christ do you want me to embrace today?

Father, one day all people, every tongue, tribe, and nation will acknowledge you as Lord. I join with your church and together proclaim, “Yes” and “Amen.”

Ideas for additional study/activity: (Optional)

  • Read and reflect on Psalm 19.
  • Do what you can today to make wrong things right, seeking and pursuing peace.

Day 5 - Trusting God as Sovereign

“For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’” Revelation 21:3

“In a loud voice they were saying: ‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!’” Revelation 5:12

“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-17

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3

Read through these verses a few times slowly.

  • What words or phrases do you notice? What catches your attention?
  • How is God speaking to you through what you notice? What comes to mind?
  • As you pray through what God is saying to you and showing you, how will you respond?

Heavenly Father, you are sovereign over all things and in you all things are made right. Thank you for making a way for us to be secure in your love and inviting us to share in your kingdom as your people. Jesus has and will accomplish all that is needed for us to dwell in the fullness of your presence. You are worthy of all praise, honor, and glory! I thank you for your presence and…
